The Armidale Youth Orchestras (AYOs) is a not-for-profit volunteer run organisation, closely affiliated with the New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM).

It was established in 1968 to foster the orchestral talent of young musicians in Armidale. Over the past 49 years, many of our alumni have gone on to professional careers in music.

The AYOs offer music students from 8-21 years a weekly ensemble program during term and provide opportunities to share the love of music making to our community. It comprises three ensembles:

The Armidale Youth Orchestra, The Armidale Youth String Orchestra and The Armidale Youth Wind Ensemble

The Armidale Youth Orchestras offer music students a weekly program during term with peer mentoring, advanced performing opportunities, master classes with professional performers, and above all a chance to share the love of music making with other young musicians from the broader Armidale community and beyond, find out more about joining.
