Joining the AYO’s

Application and enrolment in an AYO ensemble requires a commitment for the entire year (HSC students are to negotiate schedules with the conductor). Applicants must consider their ability to attend rehearsals, workshops, and concerts.

Existing Players

Existing players who are staying n the same ensemble do not need to audition each year. 

Please complete the Existing Player Registration Form. These forms will also be handed out in rehearsals to return.

String seating will be managed by a panel of the conductor and string specialists.  They will take into consideration age of the student, standard (AMEB or equivalent), ensemble experience and previous year's attendance.

New Players to Ensembles

All new players will need to audition for all ensembles. Do not be nervous, this all part of your music experience! For more information on auditions, click here

Auditions are held each year in November.   

Auditions for 2027 Season

Applications Due - Tuesday 27th October, 2026 (for new players to an ensemble only)

Audition Excerpts Released - Tuesday 10th November, 2026

Auditions - Tuesday 24th November, 2026

Audition Results Released - Friday 4th December, 2026

After audition notification/acceptance, complete membership form by Friday 3 February 2027.

Fees due by Tuesday 18 February 2027

All membership must be paid prior to the Sawtell Music Camp weekend for insurance purposes.
